In 2022, CCV executive director Jon Lohman stepped into a recording studio in San Antonio, TX, with bluegrass legend Peter Rowan and a powerhouse lineup of Texas Tejano greats to explore the Tex/Mex roots running through Peter’s music.
With support from CCV, the result is Tales of the Free Mexican Airforce, out now on all streaming platforms.
Witnessing masters at work is always a special pleasure but blending Rowan with Tejano virtuoso Flaco Jiménez—one of the most influential accordion innovators in the world—plus Max Baca (bajo sexto and vocals), Josh Baca (accordion) and his bandmates from Los Texmaniacs—and you know you’re in for something unforgettable.
