What began two years ago on stage at the Richmond Folk Festival is culminating this Memorial Day weekend in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands when two National Heritage Fellowship winners join together for an epic concert on May 25 at the Island Center for the Performing Arts.
Stanley Jacobs is an NEA National Heritage Fellow and St. Croix Living Legend who plays the homegrown music style called Quelbe (Qwel-BAY). He and his band, The Ten Sleepless Knights, first collaborated on the CCV stage at the Richmond Folk Fest with fellow NEA National Heritage winners, Richmond’s own gospel queens, The Legendary Ingramettes.
This Memorial Day weekend, The Ten Sleepless Knights have invited the Ingramettes to their home for a weekend of performances and community events in celebration of the The Ten Sleepless Knights’ 55th anniversary!
