JAMinc. and the Center for Cultural Vibrancy present Sherman Holmes in concert at Mary Munford Elementary School auditorium the evening of Wednesday, May 31st.

The Holmes Brothers thrilled audiences for more than four decades, performing in more than 50 countries, sharing the stage with Van Morrison, Peter Gabriel and Odetta along the way.  Sherman Holmes was the group’s senior member, serving up ample portions of supple bass lines and an ever present ear-to-ear grin for his younger Telecaster-wielding brother Wendell and the rock-solid drumbeats of their brother-by-another-mother Popsy Dixon. Popsy and Wendell both passed away in 2015, but Sherman has continued to carry the torch, and in 2017 he released the critically acclaimed The Richmond Sessions, produced by CCV executive director Jon Lohman, under the name of the Sherman Holmes Project which features an eclectic collection of musicians spanning from bluegrass to gospel to funk.

Among the many great Virginia musicians joining Sherman on the recording were Richmond’s talented multi-instrumentalist Jared Pool and everyone’s favorite gospel sweethearts, the Legendary Ingramettes. Jared and the Ingramettes will be joining Sherman along with the stunningly gifted gospel singer and pianist Cora Harvey Armstrong and young blues harmonica phenom Andrew Alli.
